AI prompts for job search

Applying for jobs is the rare task that is both high-stakes and done dozens of times in a row, which is exactly the combination that produces generic output. By the tenth application the covering letter is a template with a company name swapped in, and the person reading it has seen a hundred of the same.

These prompts work against the specific failure of each step: a CV rewritten to sound better rather than to answer what the advert asked for, a story about a project with no result in it, an interview prepared by reading a list of common questions instead of the ones you cannot currently answer. Each one ends by naming the gap rather than papering over it, because the gap is the thing you can still act on before the deadline.
